How the winning run scored: Luke Scott scored from third on a ground out to second in the top of the first inning that gave Durham a 2-0 lead over Gwinnett on Wednesday night. Tim Beckham, from Griffin, led off the inning with a home run.

At the plate: Beckham was 4-for-6. The G-Braves' Jose Constanza was 3-for-5, and Joe Leonard, Phil Gosselin and Matt Pagnozzi each was 2-for-4. Leonard scored the team's only run, on a ground out by Constanza in the fifth. Gwinnett loaded the bases in the ninth with one out, but Pagnozzi struck out and Constanza flied out to left.

On the mound: Gwinnett starter David Hale (6-8) gave up five runs in 5 1/3 innings, allowing seven hits and walking four.

Up next for Gwinnett: The G-Braves (57-82) and the Bulls (85-53) meet at 6:05 p.m. Thursday at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville. Probable starters are right-hander Omar Poveda (6-7, 3.53 ERA) and lefty Matt Moore, in a rehab start for the Tampa Bay Rays.
