WASHINGTON — The Braves will open the 2015 season against the Marlins in Miami on April 6 and play the Mets in their April 10 home opener at Turner Field.
It’ll be the second year in a row and fourth time in five seasons that the Braves open on the road. They play three games against the Marlins April 6-8 and have a day off before a six-game homestand against the Mets (April 10-12) and Marlins (April 13-15), then dive into interleague play with a three-game series at Toronto (April 17-19).
The home schedule features a pair of marquee interleague matchups with a June 17-18 two-game series against the Red Sox and Aug. 28-30 three-game series against the Yankees. The Braves will face the Red Sox four times in four days including two at Boston June 15-16, the same arrangement the teams had this season but with the order reversed.
The Braves’ first matchup with the National League East rival Nationals is April 27-29 at Turner Field, the first three games of a 10-game homestand that also includes four games against the Reds and three against the Phillies. A day after that homestand ends, the Braves open a three-game series at Washington (May 8-10).
The Braves have a two-game home interleague series against the Rays (May 19-20) and a three-game series against the Blue Jays (Sept. 15-17). They will play four interleague road series against the Red Sox, Blue Jays, Rays and Orioles.
The tentative major league master schedule, announced Monday, features opening day a week later for most teams than it was this season, which began March 31 for most teams and ends Sept. 28. The 2015 season doesn’t end until Oct. 4, and the Braves will finish the season with what should be a tough six-game homestand against the Nationals (Sept. 29-Oct. 1) and Cardinals (Oct. 2-4).
