Braves' opponent: Miami Marlins
Keep an eye on: Giancarlo Stanton. He's always dangerous at the plate, but then man just hit a ball some 475 feet out of Dodger Stadium on Tuesday night. Only Mark McGwire, Willie Stargell and Mike Piazza had left the building in Chavez Ravine. Also, A.J. Ramos has taken over the closer's role for a struggling Steve Cishek, who converted just three of seven save chances to start the year. Ramos recorded his first career save Wednesday in LA in his 164th major league appearance.
Who's hot: Dee Gordon had four hits Wednesday to raise his season average to .426 – which was leading the majors by 66 points. He'd had four three-hit games already this month. Atlanta has held Gordon to a "cool" .348 (8-for-23) so far this season.
Who's not: Christian Yelich is 3-for-26 (.115) with 11 strikeouts in his past seven games.
Braves connection: Earlier this month, the Marlins released former Brave backstop Jarrod Saltalamacchia, with $14 million left on his contract through next season. "Salty" was just 2-for-29 in nine games on the season, with one double and one home run. Former Brave Martin Prado is hitting .273 (6-for-22) with one double and one RBI against his former team this year.
In the news: Henderson Alvarez pitched six shutout inning in a minor league rehabilitation assignment Tuesday as he nears his return from being on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation.
