The Braves had a 2.14 ERA during their seven-game winning streak before Friday, which included just one earned run allowed in 20 innings by relievers (0.45 ERA).
That was the second-best bullpen ERA in the majors over that span, behind the Cardinals’ 0.40. Braves relievers also ranked second with a .155 opponents’ average in that period, behind only the Mets’ .141.
The Braves’ bullpen was refreshed entering Friday, following a team day off Thursday and after several key members of the ‘pen were held out of Wednesday’s game for a rest including closer Craig Kimbrel, Shae Simmons and left-hander Luis Avilan.
