The Braves made a roster move Tuesday, promoting outfielder Rafael Ortega from Triple-A Gwinnett and optioning pitcher Patrick Weigel to Gwinnett.

Ortega, 28, a left-handed hitter, has a .285 batting average and 21 home runs in 111 games (431 at-bats) for Gwinnett this season.

He has had several stints in the big leagues previously, hitting .236 across 109 MLB games with the Marlins (2018), Angels (2016) and Rockies (2012).

Weigel joined the Braves from Gwinnett on Friday, his second brief stint this season with the big-league team. But he didn’t appear in a game in either of the stints, which totaled eight service days.

The Braves open a three-game series against the resurgent New York Mets at SunTrust Park on Tuesday night. The Braves’ lineup has Matt Joyce playing right field, with Ronald Acuna in left.
