The Braves selected pitcher Evan Rutckyj from the New York Yankees in baseball's Rule Five Draft Thursday in Nashville.

Rutkyj (pronounced RUT-ski) has a 31-25 career record, spanning 129 appearances over six minor league seasons, including 47 starts.

In 2015, Rutkyj, 23, split his season between the Yankees' High-A and Double-A teams, for a combined 3-2 record and a 2.63 ERA over 36 relief appearances. The 6-foot-5, 210-pound lefthander from Windsor, Canada, struck out 82 batters in 61-2/3 innings of work.

This is the second year Atlanta has selected a pitcher in the December draft. Last year, the Braves picked right-hander Dan Winkler from the Colorado Rockies.

In the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft, the Braves took right-hander Enderson Franco from the Marlins’ Double-A roster and lost 25-year-old lefty reliever Mitch Lambson to the Brewers. The Braves got Lambson in a midseason trade from the Astros
