How the game was won: The Braves broke a tie game with two runs against reliever Bryan Morris in the eighth inning for a 5-3 victory. Braves outfielder Todd Cunningham, newly promoted from Triple A-Gwinnett, hit a go-ahead RBI single off Morris. The Braves added another run when Christian Bethancourt struck out but reached base on Morris’ wild pitch and allowed Andrelton Simmons to score.

Number: 3. Hits for Braves infielder Phil Gosselin, tying his career high.

Next: The Braves play the Marlins at 1:05 p.m. Saturday on Fox Sports 1. Alex Wood (1-2, 4.28 ERA) faces Mat Latos (1-3, 4.72).
