How the winning run scored: Philip Gosselin's one-out single in the top of the seventh inning gave Gwinnett a 2-0 lead over Charlotte on Friday night. The G-Braves added two runs in the eighth.
At the plate: Gwinnett's Ernesto Mejia produced the game's first run when he led off the seventh with a home run, his 27th of the season. Teammate Brandon Boggs (1-for-4) had a two-out, two-run double in the eighth. Joe Leonard (2-for-4, double and single) was the only G-Brave with more than one hit.
On the mound: Gwinnett starter David Hale (5-5) gave up one run in seven innings. He allowed six hits and four walks and struck out three. Cory Rasmus recorded his 14th save.
Up next for Gwinnett: The G-Braves (46-61) and the Knights (48-59) continue their series at 7:15 p.m. Saturday in Charlotte. Gwinnett is scheduled to start right-hander Omar Poveda (5-6, 3.30 ERA) against left-hander Charlie Leesman (2-1, 3.62).
