How the winning run scored: With one out in the third inning, Ernesto Mejia's single to left drove home Jose Constanza to give visiting Gwinnett its first run Friday night on its way to defeating Charlotte.

At the plate: Constanza and teammate Corey Wimberly each was 3-for-5, and Constanza scored two runs. Joey Terdoslavich (2-for-5) drove in three runs. He hit a two-run homer in the fifth. Mejia had two RBIs. Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman, on a rehab assignment, was the G-Braves' designated hitter. He was 0-for-3 with three strikeouts, but he drew a walk in the sixth and later scored.

On the mound: G-Braves starter Omar Poveda (1-0) pitched seven innings without allowing a run and struck out four. He gave up only two hits and walked one.

Up next for Gwinnett: The G-Braves (7-9) and Knights (5-11) continue their series at 7:15 p.m. Saturday in Charlotte. Left-hander Daniel Rodriguez (0-1, 17.05) is scheduled to start for Gwinnett against Zach Stewart (0-1, 4.50).
