How the winning run scored: Tyler Pastornicky's one-out sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning drove home Sean Kazmar to give the Gwinnett Braves an 8-5 lead over host Charlotte on Friday night.

At the plate: Joey Terdoslavich and Ernesto Mejia hit home runs in consecutive plate appearances in the eighth. Terdoslavich was 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Mejia's was his fifth this season. Pastornicky was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

On the mound: G-Braves starter Tim Corcoran pitched four innings, giving up four runs on five hits and striking out four.

Thursday's game: In a late game between the teams, Josh Loman hit a one-out home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Charlotte a 9-8 victory over the G-Braves. The G-Braves tied the score 8-8 in the ninth on back-to-back doubles by Corey Wimberly and Pastornicky, but Terdoslavich struck out swinging to strand a runner at second. The G-Braves also left a runner at second in the 10th.

Up next for Gwinnett: The G-Braves continue their road swing and open a series against the Norfolk Tides at 7:05 p.m. Saturday. Right-hander Omar Poveda (0-0, 0.00) is scheduled to start for Gwinnett.
