Braves game rained out

Tuesday night's game between the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs was rained out. It was rescheduled as a split doubleheader on Wednesday. A tribute to late announcer Skip Caray also was postponed.

The first game of a three-game series with the Chicago Cubs was rained out Tuesday. Just after batting practice, the tarp was placed on the field and would remain, but some die-hard fans still showed hoping skies would clear.

Lone fan takes cover under an umbrella in left-center field waiting for the game to start. Tuesday's game will be made as part of a split doubleheader Wednesday. Makeup game is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Braves manager Bobby Cox, who had filled out his lineup card, peeks out of the dugout, looking skyward one last time after the game was called.

Brianna Conner, 4, protects herself from the rain under her pink umbrella. Tuesday's outing would've been her first Braves game at Turner Field.

Cubs fan Jeff Esping and his son, Ryan, 8, wait for the game to start. Esping brought his son to witness the Cubs play, but young Ryan, a Braves faithful, says he has no interest in the Cubs.

A tribute for late Braves announcer Skip Caray also was postponed and moved to Wednesday night. Braves players and coaches will wear a "Skip" patch on their right sleeve for the remainder of the season.
