How the winning run scored: With one out in the top of the eighth inning Thursday afternoon, Ernesto Mejia padded Gwinnett's lead with a two-run homer. Todd Cunningham led off the inning with a double and scored on Mejia's 17th homer of the season, which gave the G-Braves a 3-0 lead over Buffalo.

At the plate: The Bisons loaded the bases in the ninth with a one-out single and a pair of two-out walks, all off reliever Ryan Buchter. Reliever Cole McMurry entered the game, and Ryan Goins hit the first pitch for a single to right that made the score 3-2. Buffalo loaded the bases again, but Mike McCoy flew out to center to end the game.

On the mound: G-Braves starter David Hale (2-3) gave up no runs in six innings. He allowed seven hits, but no walks, and struck out three.

Up next for Gwinnett: The G-Braves (31-44) return home to begin a four-game series against Syracuse at 7:05 p.m. Friday at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville.
