It turns out the Braves will avoid facing both Dodgers aces Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke during the four-game series starting Monday at Turner Field.

The Dodgers are starting newcomer Kevin Correia in the series opener, primarily to give other starters extra rest. Greinke pitched on Saturday and Kershaw pitched on Sunday against the Brewers.

Correia was 5-13 with a 4.94 ERA for the Twins before being traded Saturday.

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said his team can’t take anything for granted in avoiding Greinke and Kershaw.

“All of a sudden three out of these next four guys will throw one-hitters against you,” he said. “It’s still major league baseball and you just never know who is going to come up with a big game. I don’t mind not seeing those guys. You just never know.”

The Dodgers acquired Correia for a player to be named later after losing Josh Beckett to what likely is a season-ending hip injury. The Dodgers also traded for veteran starter Roberto Hernandez, who is scheduled to make his second start in Thursday’s series finale against the Braves.
