Brandon McCarthy didn’t have to worry about run support in his Braves debut.

After allowing two runs in the first inning, McCarthy pitched 4 1/3 scoreless frames, along with five strikeouts and three walks, in route to a 15-2 win over the Phillies at SunTrust Park on Saturday.

“Rocky but I’m glad I got through it,” McCarthy said. “I’m glad we got through it. It was not a sharp day, not a day I felt in control. Offense did everything we needed it to do. Stewart did a great job getting me through it, picking me up and dragging me to the finish line. The runs made it easier where I could just go out and throw and not have to fight myself too much.”

It was the 12-year veteran’s first career win over the Phillies. There are still four teams he’s yet to defeat: St. Louis, Milwaukee, Washington and - coincidentally - Atlanta.
