How the winning run scored: A single by Buffalo's Moises Sierra with two outs in the bottom of the third inning drove home Mauro Gomez to complete a three-run inning and give the Bisons a 3-1 lead over the Gwinnett Braves on Friday night.

At the plate: Gwinnett's Stefan Gartrell hit a solo homer in the second, and Luis Nunez (2-for-4) drove home the G-Braves' other run with a two-out single in the fourth. Five other G-Braves had a hit apiece, including a double by Matt Pagnozzi.

On the mound: G-Braves starter Omar Poveda (5-5) gave up three runs on seven hits in seven innings. He walked two and struck out four. Buffalo starter Todd Redmond (3-1), a former G-Brave, struck out nine in five innings.

Up next for Gwinnett: The G-Braves (36-47) begin a five-game series on the road against the Norfolk Tides at 7:05 p.m. Saturday. The G-Braves plan to start right-hander Cody Martin (2-0, 0.64 ERA) against left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada (1-4, 6.25).
