1986 -- Barry Bonds, who was selected by Pittsburgh with the fifth pick in the first round of the 1985 amateur draft, made his major league debut May 30 at the Los Angeles Dodgers. He hit his first major league homer five days later at Atlanta, off Craig McMurtry.

1990 - Barry Bonds makes his first All-Star appearance - playing opposite Ken Griffey Jr., of the Mariners. Bonds wins the first of what would become a major league record seven Most Valuable Player Awards, hitting .301 with 33 home runs, 114 RBIs and stealing 52 bases.

1992 - Barry Bonds wins his second MVP award (.311 with 34 homers and 103 RBIs), propelling the Pirates to their third straight National League East division title. In the offseason Bonds filed for free agency and agrees to a six-year, $43.75 million contract with the San Francisco Giants - the team his father spent the first seven years of his career.

1993 - In his first season in San Francisco, Barry Bonds hits .336, leading the league with 46 home runs and 123 RBIs en route to his second consecutive MVP award.

1996 - Barry Bonds becomes the first National League player and second major league player to hit 40 home runs and steal 40 bases in the same season. He drives in 129 runs with a .308 average, but finished fifth in the MVP balloting.

1997 - Barry Bonds hits 40 home runs for the second straight year and drives in 101 runs, leading the league in walks again with 145. He did, however, hit .291, his lowest average since 1989.

2001 - Barry Bonds hit several career milestones, slugging his 500th career home run. With 39 home runs by the All-star break, Bonds broke the single-season home run record of 70 in the 159th game. He capped the season winning his fourth MVP Award.

2001- On Oct. 5, Barry Bonds breaks Mark McGwire's single-season record with his 71st home run off the Dodgers' Chan Ho Park. The 37-year-old Bonds, who had never hit 50 homers in a season before, goes on to hit 73.

2002 - Barry Bonds enters the season with a five-year, $90 million contract. He hits 46 home runs in 403 at-bats and wins the NL batting title with a career-high .370 average, while striking out only 47 times. In the same season, Bonds breaks Ted Williams' major league record for on-base average with .582 and hits his 600th home run - less than a year and a half after hitting his 500th.

2003 - On June 23, Barry Bonds becomes the only player in baseball history to have hit 500 homers and stolen 500 bases.

2004 - Coming off his third-straight MVP season (sixth overall), Barry Bonds has one of his most impressive seasons yet. Bonds hit 45 home runs in 373 at-bats, and struck out just 41 times. He hit .362 - with a .812 slugging average - en route to his second National League batting title, and broke his own record by walking 232 times. He hit his 700th career home run and won the MVP the fourth year in a row.

2007 - On Aug. 7, Barry Bonds launches the 756th home run of his career off a 3-2 pitch from Mike Bacsik of the Washington Nationals. The 435-foot shot to the right field bleachers broke the all-time career home run record, formerly held by Hank Aaron. Bonds would add six more to his tally to finish his 21st season with 762 career home runs.

2007 - Barry Bonds played his final game on Sept. 26. At 43 years old, he finished with a .276 batting average, 28 home runs, and 66 RBIs in 126 games and 340 at bats.

2007 - On Nov. 15, Barry Bonds is indicted on five felony counts of perjury and obstruction of justice for allegedly lying when he testified in 2003 before a federal grand jury in San Francisco investigating the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative (BALCO) that he never knowingly used performance-enhancing drugs.

2007 - Nearly a month after he is indicted, Barry Bonds enters a plea of not guilty on Dec. 7 and is booked in Oakland, Calif. He is set free on bond until his trial start, which was set for March 2, 2009, but was delayed by appeals.

2010 - At the height of his career, Barry Bonds made $22 million a season, the second-highest salary in baseball. In 2010, he was unable to sign with a club, but insisted he was not retired.

1992-2004 - Barry Bonds hit 30 or more home runs for 13 consecutive seasons. The 14-time All-Star holds or shares more than 16 baseball records. Bonds' first year eligibility for the Hall of Fame in 2013.

2011 - Perjury trial of Barry Bonds begins. Bonds is charged in third superseding indictment with four counts of making false statements plus an additional obstruction of justice charge. Each count carries sentence of up to 10 years in prison if convicted. Federal sentencing guidelines indicate recommended sentence of 15-to-21 months if convicted on any of the counts. Bonds was convicted April 13, 2011, on only one count -- obstruction of justice.
