LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Former Braves center fielder Andruw Jones’ increased involvement with his former team continues as the 10-time Gold Glove winner returns as a guest instructor at Braves spring training.

Jones, 38, arrived in the Orlando area Tuesday and begins a guest-instructor stint that will run almost two weeks through March 6. Former Braves catcher Javy Lopez is already in camp as a guest instructor.

The Braves bring back former standout players throughout spring training for guest-instructor stints that generally last 5-10 days. This will be the first for Jones, who played parts of the past two seasons in Japan and is expected to soon announce he’s retired as a player.

During last month’s FanFest, Jones said he hoped to have more involvement with the Braves and said he hoped to land a job as an instructor or coach for the Braves or another team. He remained an Atlanta resident even after leaving the Braves following the 2007 season.
