In an interview with ESPN's Peter Gammons, New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez admitted using a performance-enhancing substance in 2001-03.

In his final season in Seattle (2000), a slender Rodriguez led the Mariners to the ALCS.

Rodriguez said the pressure to live up to the 10-year, $252-million contract he signed with the Rangers in December 2000 led to his "experimentation" with steroids.

In his three years in Texas, a noticeably stockier Rodriguez averaged more than 52 home runs.

In 2004, the Rangers traded Rodriguez to the Yankees for second baseman Alfonso Soriano and a player to be named later. The Yankees also agreed to pay $67 million of the $179 million remaining on his Texas contract.

In the 10 seasons Rodriguez claims he was not using performance-enhancing substances, he averaged 37 home runs.

In a December 2007 interview, Rodriguez told "60 Minutes" that he had never used, nor was ever tempted to use, performance-enhancing drugs.

In his 2008 book "Vindicated," Jose Canseco alledged that Rodriguez used steroids. Canseco wrote that he even introduced Rodriguez to a steroids supplier. Rodriguez denied Canseco's claim in Monday's interview with Gammons.

Now, Rodriguez will try to move forward. He will not face any discipline from Major League Baseball.
