The great prospect has arrived.
Dansby Swanson of Marietta will suit up for the Braves Wednesday night.
Here's how three AJC veterans see the arrival of the rookie:
Jeff Schultz: Everybody take a deep breath. The expectations for this 22-year-old are already enormous, and the Braves have unfortunately been complicit in creating this situation by talking up this kid from Day 1. Click here to read more from Schultz.
Mark Bradley: Barely 14 months ago, Dansby Swanson was the No. 1 pick in the MLB draft. Last December, the Braves pried him from Arizona for Shelby Miller, who's now in the minor leagues. Ever since, Swanson has been this franchise's shortstop of the future. Come Wednesday night, he'll be the shortstop, period. And away we go. Click here to read more from Bradley.
Steve Hummer: Enough waiting. Enough watching a shortstop who was an obvious short-timer. Enough sitting through this Braves season with one eye on the losingest team in Major League Baseball and one on a long list of prospects working distant fields, longing for a tangible return on our patience. It is time to throw Dansby Swanson into the deep end. Click here to read more from Hummer.
