Atlanta United goalkeeper Rocco Rios Novo has rejoined the team.

Atlanta United announced the acquisition of goalkeeper Rocco Rios Novo on loan Wednesday.

Rios Novo will join on loan from Lanus in Argentina. The loan is through December.

Atlanta United has one healthy goalkeeper, Bobby Shuttleworth, on its senior roster. Starter Brad Guzan and backup Dylan Castanheira were put on the season-ending injury list Wednesday with ruptured Achilles tendons.

Atlanta United will play at Montreal on Saturday.

“We’re pleased to welcome Rocco back to Atlanta and look forward to integrating him into the team,” Atlanta United Vice President Carlos Bocanegra said in a statement from the club. “He’s a young, talented player who we’re very familiar with who will add competition to our goalkeeping group.”

Rios Novo, 19, spent time with Atlanta United, including playing in two Champions League games, and Atlanta United 2 last season on loan from Lanus in Argentina.

Atlanta United manager Gonzalo Pineda said last week that Rios Novo will be expected to compete for a starting spot. Pineda said he likes Rios Novo’s ability with the ball. Though undersized, Pineda said Rios Novo plays bigger than he is.

A U.S. citizen, Rios Novo will not occupy an international slot on the team’s roster.
