Here are four things to know about Atlanta United this week:
1. Atlanta United defeated Philadelphia 2-0 on Saturday in Chester, Pa. behind goals from Josef Martinez and Hector Villalba. The victory helped the team overcome the memory of the 3-2 loss at Dallas on the Fourth of the July.
2. Martinez's goal on a penalty kick moved him to a league-leading 18 this season. He's on pace to destroy the single-season scoring record in MLS.
3. He will get a chance to add to that total when Atlanta United hosts struggling Seattle on Sunday. While Atlanta United leads MLS in points (40) and goals scored (42), Seattle has just 16 points and as a team has scored fewer goals (15) than Martinez has scored.
4. With 14 games remaining, Atlanta United has a chance to break the record points in a season set by Toronto last season when it finished with 69 points. To break the record, Atlanta United would need to average 2.14 points per game over its final 14. It is averaging 2 per game through 20 games. the majority of its remaining games will come against teams that are outside the playoff line as of Sunday.
