Atlanta United is expanding its academy to include a program for players born in 2007, ’08 or ’09.

The team is calling it the United Juniors program and those selected will train at the team’s complex in Marietta. Those players selected can remain with their clubs.

“This is a great way to help develop young players without taking them away from the clubs and their teams at such a young age,” Atlanta United Academy Director Tony Annan said in a statement from the team. “We look forward to working with coaches from Georgia youth soccer clubs to help enhance player development and assist with coaching education. Directors and coaches of clubs choosing to participate in the United Juniors Program will be eligible for workshops and coaching education programs.”

Atlanta United’s academy teams are ages Under-19, U-17, U-16, U-15, U-14, U-13 and U-12.
