Atlanta United's Kenwyne Jones will go on loan with Central FC in his native country of Trinidad and Tobago. The player announced the destination on his social media accounts on Sunday.

He will join the Sharks on Aug. 1 and is scheduled to make his debut in the CONCACAF Champions League on Aug. 2. Central FC is a two-time Caribbean Club and TT Pro League Champion.

“I’ll be back home playing football again,” Jones said in a statement released to the media. “I haven’t done so in a number of years and I’m excited to be back in the mix.

“It’s a good moment to be home, a good moment to be closely involved in matches between now and December, and it’s a good transitioning stage for me before I go off to the new venture in Atlanta.”

The loan spell will end in December and he will join Atlanta United in its first training camp in January.

Jones has played for several clubs in England’s Premier League, including Cardiff City, Stoke City and Sunderland.

He is captain of his national team.

Atlanta United has several players on loan to different clubs: Andrew Carleton, Alex Tambakis and Jeffrey Otoo are with Charleston in the USL. Junior Burgos is with Tampa Bay in the NASL. Chris McCann will join Coventry City in England’s League One.

Atlanta United technical director Carlos Bocanegra said the club is still determining where recent signing Hector Villalba will go.
