Atlanta United will open its CONCACAF Champions League tournament at Herediano on Feb. 21, and will host the Costa Rican team on Feb. 28 at Kennesaw State’s Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

The return leg won’t be at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where the MLS champs have set multiple league attendance records, because of a stadium conflict. Monster Jam is Feb. 23 and 24 and Supercross is March 2.

The game in Costa Rica will kick off at 10 p.m., according to the CONCACAF website. The game at Fifth Third Bank Stadium will kick off at 8 p.m.

Atlanta United qualified for the Champions League by accumulating the most points in MLS during the 2017 and ’18 seasons.

Herediano will be participating in the Champions League for the ninth time. It qualified by winning the CONCACAF League, a tournament for teams in Central America and the Caribbean.

This will be the third time that Atlanta United has played at Fifth Third Bank Stadium, which has a capacity of approximately 8,318. The previous two games were in the U.S. Open Cup. Atlanta United won both.

Atlanta United’s USL team, Atlanta United 2, will play its home games in 2019 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
