Manuel Castro is joining Atlanta United on loan through June. The team announced the acquisition Wednesday and has an option to extend the loan through the season.

Securing Castro fulfills manager Frank de Boer’s wish of adding depth at right winger.

Castro, a 24-year-old native of Uruguay, scored 17 goals in 87 appearances for Montevideo Wanderers in Uruguay.

He was acquired in January 2019 by Estudiantes in Argentina, where he has three goals in 27 appearances.

Castro will take up one of the team’s International slots. Other players that occupy slots are Pity Martinez, Matheus Rossetto, Fernando Meza, Jake Mulraney, Luiz Nascimento and Anton Walkes.
