Richard Gasquet, ranked No. 9 on the ATP World Tour, has committed to play in the BB&T Atlanta Open, tournament organizers announced Wednesday.

Gasquet, a native of France, will become the first international top-10 player in BB&T history, if his ranking doesn’t slip between now and the tournament’s starting date of July 19. It will also mark his debut in Atlanta.

Along with No. 10 John Isner, the BB&T could have two top-10 players.

Gasquet has 10 singles titles, including three won last year. He is skilled on a variety of surfaces, taking championships on outdoor grass, outdoor clay, indoor carpet, outdoor hard and indoor hard.

The BB&T will played outdoors on hard courts set up at Atlantic Station.
