The Hawks will play short-handed Friday night when they host the Nuggets at State Farm Arena. The team headed into the day with several players out or listed as questionable or out, then added guards Trae Young (right shoulder soreness) and Trent Forrest (concussion evaluation) to the list by midday Friday.

Young is questionable to play. The Hawks said that Forrest is not in concussion protocol, right now. But he is being evaluated for a concussion.

The Hawks already had ruled out John Collins (left ankle sprain) and De’Andre Hunter (right hip flexor strain), as well as Justin Holiday (health and safety protocols) on Thursday. While Bogdan Bogdanovic (right knee injury recovery), Clint Capela (left foot soreness), Jalen Johnson (right ankle soreness) and Frank Kaminsky (right foot sprain) are questionable.

The Hawks do have several options still available, but they still have to be creative with the rotation.

After assigning rookie wing Tyrese Martin to the Skyhawks, the team recalled him, and he was available at shootaround. The Hawks also likely will return Aaron Holiday to the rotation after the veteran guard has seen a significant reduction in minutes following the Hawks’ loss to the Rockets on Nov. 25.

The Hawks and Nuggets tip off 7:30 p.m. at State Farm Arena.
