FLOWERY BRANCH -- Falcons special-teams coordinator Marquice Williams was not too pleased with two penalties that his players made in the 32-6 loss to the Eagles on Sunday.

Marlon Davidson’s illegal-formation penalty was particularly costly. He lined up over the center on an extra-point try. The Eagles then went for a two-point conversion and made the score 15-6 right before the half.

Here’s how Williams answered questions from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Thursday:

On what was on the special teams’ “To Do List” after the Philly game: “More so to see the guys play with great effort, stay in the presence and then use their proper technique. We still have a lot of room for improvement. We know that we had two penalties in the game that we have to clean up. One pre-snap and one down the field post-snap. Clean that up to help our offense with better field position. Then to also make that game a one-score game instead of a two-score game (Davidson’s illegal-formation penalty). Those were addressed on Monday. Guys are doing a great job of moving forward. Guys are focused on Tampa Bay right now, to get going and go out there and play with great effort come Sunday.”

On how the returners Avery Williams and Cordarrelle Patterson performed: “Limited opportunities. Avery did a great job with decision making and catching the ball clean. Trying to make the first guy miss. Hopefully, down the road we are going to continue to get more opportunities. As a return unit, we have to take advantage of those opportunities whether if it’s one per game or maybe one in two to three weeks. … We have to do a better job of not only the returner, but the other 10 guys out there making the most of those opportunities.”

On what are the traits of Keith Armstrong’s units in Tampa Bay: “Physicality. They play physical. They play bigger guys out there. They used a combination of speed and power to great physical mismatches out there on the field. Those guys will play with great effort. It’s a great opportunity for our unit to go down there and play against those guys. Keith is heavily respected. I’ve followed his career every since I got in the NFL as a special-teams coach. So, it’s a great opportunity to go against Keith this weekend.”
