LOS ANGELES – Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies exited during his at-bat in the fifth inning Tuesday in Los Angeles after fouling a ball off his left knee.

Albies stayed on the ground for a few minutes. Manager Brian Snitker and trainer George Poulis checked on him. Albies was carried off the field by two trainers. X-rays were negative, the Braves announced, which was good news for Albies and the team. He’s considered day to day.

“I’m sure he’ll be down a day or two, and then we’ll see where he’s at,” Snitker said after the game. “I think he’s pretty sore right now.” Snitker added Albies isn’t expected to require time on the injured list “at this time.”

Utilityman Ehire Adrianza finished the at-bat against Dodgers starter Walker Buehler, grounding out. Adrianza remained in the game to play second base. The Braves lost to the Dodgers, 3-2, after surrendering the go-ahead run in the eighth.

Albies, 24, earned his second All-Star spot this season. He’s hitting .260/.318/.485 with 23 homers, 86 RBIs and 82 runs scored. He’s played in 129 of the team’s 131 games.

“That’s huge,” outfielder Joc Pederson said of Albies avoiding serious injury. “It looked really bad. He’s a huge part of this team and we need to get back ASAP.”
