SAN FRANCISCO -— The Braves left San Francisco having dodged a sweep with a 3-0 win Sunday. They’re clinging to a two-game lead over the Phillies in the National League East.

“That’s a big win,” manager Brian Snitker said after Sunday’s victory. “The last two days, what these guys went through. ... It was just good for the guys to bounce back today and get this win going into Arizona.”

The four-game series in Arizona begins Monday. The Diamondbacks are an atrocious 48-101, the worst record in the NL, and have lost five of their last six. The Braves must take advantage, especially with the Phillies beginning a homestand against the equally dreadful Orioles and Pirates.

The Braves’ stop in Phoenix is the middle of their 11-game western road trip. They’ll play four games in San Diego, including the resumption of a suspended contest from the Padres’ series in Atlanta, next weekend to complete their final road trip of the season.
