At AJC Peachtree, no t-shirt shortage this year

July 4, 2015

This year, there were enough t-shirts to go around. A year after the prized shirts awarded to finishers ran out at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race, all who completed the 10-kilometer race course Saturday went home with a red t-shirt as their prize.

“You had to walk through a little bit of mud to get to your shirt, and I haven’t had a chance to look at any feedback or anything, but hopefully everybody likes the redesign and the red t-shirt,” Atlanta Track Club executive director Rich Kenah said.

A year ago, Kenah’s first as race director, a shortage was caused by the ideal running conditions bringing out more runners than anticipated and some boxes of shirts being accidentally left on a truck. Those who didn’t receive a shirt, fewer than 1,000 finishers, eventually received one from the track club.

This year’s shirt is the cotton-polyester blend, part wear-around t-shirt and part technical running shirt that wicks away perspiration.

Tina Tait of Decatur provided the winning design, a peach framed by the Atlanta skyline.
