Photos: Bulldogs-Crimson Tide, the rivalry continues

A look at the recent history between the Southeastern Conference rivals.

SEC powerhouses Georgia and Alabama will collide again Saturday night at 7:30 in Tuscaloosa. The game will be televised on ABC.

The teams are long-time rivals but the Crimson Tide leads the series 43-26-4. Alabama has won eight of the last 12 matchups.

The Bulldogs have won just one game in the series since 2007. But there is something very different about this game - Alabama's legendary coach Nick Saban (above) is no longer on the sideline. He retired and was replaced by Kalen DeBoer.

Georgia did have a memorable victory in 1965 when a controversial lateral helped the Bulldogs score and earn an 18-17 victory.

Alabama caused Georgia fans great pain in the 2018 CFP National Championship game. Georgia could not hold a 13-point lead and lost 26-23 in overtime.

To make it even more frustrating for the UGA faithful, Alabama's victory marked the first time in history that a team won a national championship game despite not having the lead the entire game (the Crimson Tide's only lead came when they won the game in overtime).

Georgia got payback in the 2022 National Championship game, winning 33–18. Brock Bowers scored on this play.

Georgia defensive back Kelee Ringo intercepted an Alabama pass and returned it for a touchdown to ice the victory.

But the sad endings returned to UGA when the teams met again in the 2023 SEC Championship game and Alabama won 27-24.
