Injuries hit Georgia Tech starters again ahead of Pitt
Injuries hit Georgia Tech football’s starting lineup again this week.
Offensive lineman Kevin Peay Jr. and kick returner/wide receiver Rahkeem Smith were listed as out with undisclosed injuries on the initial ACC availability report ahead of Saturday’s game at Pitt.
Peay, a sophomore, has started all seven games this season at left guard.
Smith, a fifth-year senior, leads the ACC and ranks sixth nationally in kickoff return average at 28.1 yards per return. He returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown against Colorado.
Starters who have previously missed multiple games because of injuries — including cornerback Daiquan White, safety Savion Riley and defensive end Noah Carter — remain listed as out.
The Yellow Jackets, however, appear to be healthier at defensive tackle.
Tawfiq Thomas and Vincent Carroll-Jackson, who both missed last week’s loss to Boston College, did not appear on the injury report.
Defensive end Jordan Walker (ankle) is questionable. The senior captain did not play last week after being listed as a game-time decision.
Tech coach Brent Key is scheduled to speak with the media Thursday.
