Earlier today, Savannah Police arrested 18-year-old Josias Jones for the Sept. 13 murder of 14-year-old Qahmaine Orr.

Savannah Police found Orr suffering from gunshot wounds just before 10 p.m. on Monday at the 500 block of Emerald Drive in the Frazier Homes complex. Orr was transported to Memorial University Medical Center where he died from his injuries. He was a freshman at Alfred E. Beach High School.

According to Earline W. Davis, director of the Housing Authority of Savannah, Orr did not live at Frazier Homes, but Savannah Police attribute community assistance, CrimeStoppers tips, and detective work for leading to the arrest of Jones, which was carried out with the S.W.A.T. Team. Jones has been transported to the Chatham County Detention Center.

In a statement issued by the police department, Chief Roy Minter said, “I would like to publicly thank the multiple units that worked together on this case and recognize the support we received from the community. Incidents like this should not happen, and we will continue to work with our community partners to eliminate the unlawful use of guns and the tragic effect it has on our community.”

This is a developing story.
