Temperatures in Chatham County are expected to be in the high 90s over the weekend with the National Weather Service (NWS) expecting heat index values as high as 110 throughout the weekend.

"The combination of temperatures 95 to 100 degrees and moderate levels of humidity could produce several hours of heat index values exceeding 110 degrees during the afternoon and early evening hours Friday through Sunday. Excessive Heat Watches/Warnings and/or Heat Advisories could be needed," a recent NWS hazardous weather outlook stated.
