President Barack Obama will visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta on Tuesday to get an update on the agency’s fight against Ebola.
There is no politicking on the schedule so far.
White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters at the daily briefing that Obama will “receive a briefing on the outbreak of the Ebola virus in West Africa, discuss the U.S. response to that outbreak, and thank the scientists, doctors and health care workers who are helping those affected by the disease at home and around the world. The president will also receive an update on the respiratory illness that’s been reported in several states across the Midwest.”
Tuesday night Obama will head from Atlanta to Tampa, Fla., where he will discuss the ISIS campaign with military leaders at U.S. Central Command.
The president's Atlanta trip comes a week after his wife was in town to tour a school, raise money for Democrats and rally voters for Michelle Nunn and Jason Carter. It will be the president's first trip to Atlanta since he gave the commencement address at Morehouse College last year.
