For Georgia, it's CatchMark Timber Trust, a real estate investment trust based in Atlanta with about 25 full-time employees and a median salary of $197,679, according to the analysis.

Founded in 2005, CatchMark owns interest in 1.5 million acres of timberlands located in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas, according to the website.

Overall, the financial services and the mining and energy industries dominated Money.com’s list. Those sectors each paid the most in 14 states, followed by the healthcare field, which paid the most in 12 states. The tech and industrial industries each paid the most in four states.
