24/7 Wall Street, a financial news and commentary website, recently conducted a study to find out.

For its "Fastest Growing City in Each State" roundup, researchers reviewed the seven-year population change in all of the 50 states using data from U.S. Census Bureau's Population Estimates Program.

Savannah was the fastest-growing metropolitan area for The Peach State. It’s population grew by 11.1 percent from 2010 to 2017, with more than 38,000 people making the coastal town their home.

Georgia saw a 7.4 percent increase within the last seven years. It added more than 715,000 new residents. Analysts cited domestic migration as the largest driver of growth for both the city and state.

Overall, some of the fastest-growing states included Florida, South Carolina and Texas, while West Virginia, Vermont and Illinois were some of the slowest.

As for the U.S., it’s population grew from 309 million in 2010 to 325 million in 2017. That’s a 5.3 percent boost.
