Focus Features announced the news Wednesday after the flick was nominated for six Oscar Awards: best picture, best director for Spike Lee, best supporting actor for Adam Driver, best adapted screenplay, best score for Terence Blanchard and best film editing for Barry Alexander Brown.
"We are thrilled that the Academy recognized "BlacKkKlansman" with six nominations – including Spike Lee's first-ever for Best Picture and Best Director in his 30+ year career," Focus president Lisa Bunnell said in a statement. "Spike's message that love must conquer hate feels like perfect time to have this film back in theaters."
The movie, which tells the true story of the first African-American detective to serve in the Colorado Springs Police Department in the 1970s, will be re-released in 168 theaters around the country, including in metro Atlanta.
