A mother in the United Kingdom had to face a judge after police said she ordered a limo and was going to supply cocaine for her daughter's 18th birthday trip to London so they would "have a good time."
Nicola Austen claimed that was the reason she had stashed nearly 6g of cocaine in a window in her Southborough home, Kent Online reported.
Austen recently appeared in court, ready to report to jail, but instead received a suspended sentence and 250 hours of unpaid work.
Austen faced a sentence of up to nine months in prison.
Prosecutors said that police visited Austen's home in January 2014, and while searching a drug dog "showed interest" in her bedroom. That's when, prosecutor Craig Evans said, a bag containing white powder, in 12 packages, was found hidden in sections of the window, Kent Online reported.
Austen admitted to possessing cocaine with intent to supply.
She has six previous convictions, including one for possessing amphetamine in 2010. She received a fine, Kent Online reported.
Her attorney said jail would be a burden on her family. She provides care for her grandmother and there is a young boy in the family.
