Earlier this week, the "Fast & Furious" star appeared on the first episode of "The Kelly Clarkson Show" to provide an update on Hart, who underwent surgery after fracturing his spine following a car crash.

“I connected with him today. And you know what? These things happen in life. Thankfully, he was strapped in nicely to his car seat,” the actor teased. “I’m only kidding. ... He’s doing very well.”

Johnson then expressed how grateful he was that Hart was on the road to recovery.

“Honestly, I mean, thank God, it could’ve been a lot worse,” he added. “So, he’s a lucky man… and he knows it, too. I wish him the best and a speedy recovery, and I’m going to see him soon.”

Hart was initially scheduled as Clarkson’s first guest but canceled after the accident. That’s when Johnson stepped in to take his place. Johnson even left his honeymoon to make it happen.

“He’s bummed he couldn’t be here, as you know, but look, I love the guy,” he said. “He’s one of my best friends.”

Early Sunday morning, Hart was a passenger in his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda when the driver, identified as Jared Black, lost control of the vehicle. The Plymouth left the road and rolled over as it went down an embankment.

Investigators determined alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

Both Hart and Black are recovering from back injuries. A third passenger in the car had minor injuries.

Healthcare at College Park, a nursing home in Fulton County, GA, stands shuttered with its door chained on July 26, 2025, having closed in recent months. Researchers at Brown University developed a list of U.S. nursing homes they predicted were at risk of closing based on 2023 data, and would be at elevated risk of closing due to the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act's cuts to Medicaid. Healthcare at College Park was on their list. It survived past its last federal inspection in August of 2024 but has now closed down. The bill's biggest provisions will roll out over years starting Jan. 1. (Ariel Hart/AJC)
