Cabrera's mother is a widow. His father died in 2013. Christina Espinosa and her three youngest children including Daniel live in her boss's small grocery store. Their home, which was described as a shanty, was destroyed by fire. Espinosa earns just $1.77 a day working at the store and for the owners at their home, The Telegraph reported.
Now cash, school supplies, and school uniforms have been donated. A scholarship has also been offered that would give Cabrera an education through college. A local church and a government's social welfare office also received donations to help the boy, The Telegraph reported.
Daniel said he would like to be policeman when he grows up.
