Hospital workers were delighted with their late night visitor and quickly posted the footage to their Facebook, where it became a viral hit.
"He came in around about 3:27 a.m., the electronic eye on the doors picked him up and he accessed the waiting room by himself," explained health service's chief executive Rohan Fitzgerald, "he walked around the waiting room for three minutes and then propped in front of the external doors and the eye of the doors picked him up again and he exited the waiting room."
"He was a koala that knew his own mind," he added.
Though koalas are known to enter people's gardens, Fitzgerald said the animal, who was nicknamed "Blinky Bill," was more "brazen" than he's experienced.
