According to The Hollywood Reporter, the singer filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles federal court this week, alleging the retailer and Riley Rose cosmetics company, created by the daughters of Forever 21's founders, used her name and likeness without her permission to sell merchandise.

Although the pop star was reportedly in talks to collaborate with Forever 21, the deal “never came to fruition because the amounts that Forever 21 offered to pay for the right to use Ms. Grande’s name and likeness were insufficient for an artist of her stature,” according to the complaint attained by The Hollywood Reporter.

But Grande said the brand still included at least 30 unauthorized photos and videos related to her brand in marketing campaigns.

For example, she said, Forever 21 used a model who looked “strikingly similar” to her and lyrics from her “Thank U, Next” and “7 Rings” on its website and social media platforms.

“Rather than pay for that right as the law requires, Defendants simply stole it by launching a misleading campaign across its website and social media platforms primarily in January and February 2019,” the lawsuit continued.

Grande is suing for at least $10 million in damages.
