The second generation headphones are designed with Apple's H-1 chip, which makes them perform more efficiently and connect to devices faster, according to the press release.
"H1 allows AirPods to deliver up to 50 percent more talk time compared to first generation AirPods," the company said. "Switching between devices while listening to music on iPhone, Apple Watch or iPad is more seamless than ever with two times faster connect times."
With the new headphones, which look the same as the first generation, you can call on Siri with your voice only. The debut version requires you to tap on one of the AirPods to access the virtual assistant.
Users will be able to charge the earbuds using the standard charging care or the new Wireless Charging Case. The latter, which can be purchased as a standalone, includes a LED light indicator, which shows the charge status.
The new AirPods with a standard charging case are priced at $159, while those with wireless charging case retail for $199. Both are available now online and in the Apple Store.
