AirAsia confirmed Tuesday that debris found in the Java Sea is from Flight QZ8501, which disappeared Sunday while traveling from Indonesia to Singapore.
Crews have retrieved some bodies from the area, the BBC reported.
The plane, which was carrying 162 people, lost contact with air-traffic controllers early Sunday as heavy storms hit the region.
