A woman who was hit by a freight train in southwest Atlanta early Thursday is recovering from her injuries and facing several charges related to the incident.
Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said the woman, whose name has not been released, was hit just after 5 a.m. near the intersection of Sylvan Road and Avon Avenue.
When police found the woman, she was alert and conscious, but was “extremely intoxicated” and gave police a false birth date, Jones said in an emailed statement.
The woman was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with injuries to her right foot and left ear, Jones said.
She said the woman was charged with loitering on railroad tracks, disorderly under the influence and false representation, and has a court date scheduled for June 3.
