Sunshine, warm weather and dry air have all become pretty commonplace for North Georgia the past few days.

All three will factor into Wednesday’s forecast, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan. Atlanta is in for another warm day with a projected high of 86, and Monahan said relatively low humidity levels will make for “a winning forecast.”

“It has been great hasn’t it, over the last few days, but the humidity is starting to edge up a little bit,” he said. “Still pretty comfortable, though, all the way through the end of the week.”

Humidity will really bump up by Sunday night, and with it rain chances will increase, Monahan said. Until then, there is nothing but sunshine and mostly clear skies in the forecast, according to Channel 2.

North Georgia is mostly clear on Wednesday morning, although some areas are experiencing patchy fog. While most of the region is in the 60s to begin the day, Monahan said it will be a day to dress for summertime.

“We’ll have a couple of spots that will get up close to 90 degrees with that sunshine, but again the air will be dry, so it’s going to feel pretty nice,” he said.

Warm-weather clothes and sunglasses may be warranted, but an umbrella is not, he said. It’s unlikely umbrellas will be needed again until Sunday, when there is a 10% chance of a few showers, according to the latest forecast. Rain chances increase early next week.

“We’re going to add a few more clouds as we go into your Thursday,” Monahan said, but they won’t be rainmakers. “Notice the mornings are also going to get a little warmer.”

Temperatures are expected to be in the mid-60s when Atlanta wakes up Thursday.

Pavement may be dry, but a series of early crashes have caused big delays for the start of the Wednesday morning commute. In Alpharetta, a crash has blocked all northbound lanes of Ga. 400 before Mansell Road for nearly an hour, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

Commuters can use Ga. 9 out of Roswell to avoid the backups, the Traffic Center reported at 6:30 a.m.

In DeKalb County, authorities are on the scene of a crash on Covington Highway east of I-285. Drivers can take Glenwood Road while all lanes are blocked, according to the Traffic Center.
