The California man went out for a ride while camping with his family Saturday, but wasn't found until 12 hours later. The 42-year-old man was severely injured and unable to move, according to KCRA.

“He didn't realize a large section of the road had gotten washed out,” David White, a CHP officer and paramedic, told KCRA. “As he came around the corner, that section of the road was gone. He couldn't stop and he drops about 30 feet.”

Since the ravine was in such a remote area, a helicopter had to hoist the man up and fly him to the hospital. The man is still in the hospital, but expected to recover, according to KCRA.
