Police are investigating a potential case of animal sacrifice after two decapitated roosters were found on the beach in Tybee Island last week.

The Tybee Island Police Department responded to a call last Thursday near 8th Street, where an officer found two headless birds along with plastic cups of blood in the sand, according to WTOC.

No suspects were observed or reported in the area, and there was no indication of how long the dead animals had been there.

Police said the bizarre case was similar to several other animal sacrifices that have occurred on the beach in the past.

Under Georgia law, a person who maliciously and unjustifiably kills an animal could be charged with cruelty to animals, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of $1,000, according to the law firm Lawson & Berry. The penalties are more severe for aggravated cruelty to animals, which is a felony.

An investigation is continuing, and anyone with information about the case is urged to contact the Tybee Island Police Department at 912-786-5600.

And while Atlanta wasn't included in Trump's list, the city fits that profile under Mayor Andre Dickens. (Photo Illustration: Philip Robibero / AJC | Source: Getty)
